    Hi
I have been watching this with interest and while I have had the same thing
in trees researching the same families ,while it really annoys me I know
that all the information I have in my trees are absolutely correct.I have written to people in other trees asking them to change their records after sending them the correct information but only a couple have actually changed it.I think the best you can do is make contact, outline any correct facts and hope they listen.Don't get upset if they won't change it but just make sure what information you add is correct and true.
It is no use starting this hobby if you think you will get quick answers off someone else.I have been researching for over 25 years and when I started I made a point of checking and double checking my facts before declaring
them.I have purchased certificates and got copies of parish records ,census records and many other records to prove my information.I don't add anything
to my tree that has not been proven. While this may take longer it doesn't matter,at least you'll know what you have is right.
    Good luck with your research.
    Elaine
