    Hello All

I have a death on NSW BDM for Harold Ogden HANDSILL born 1915 died in 1976 but cannot find where he is buried/cremated. He lived in the Newcastle area and in 1972 was still living in the area.I have checked various cemetery indexes, Billion graves,
    Sandgate cemetery etc.
    Anyone have any suggestions please>

Nothing on Australian Cemeteries Index. A death cert may be your only
option. I think that NSW has uncertified copies of the death
registration, which are otherwise identical, but cheaper.

According to family trees on Ancestry.com, his wife Stella died in 1991
in Sydney. Do you know whether she moved there after 1972?

    HTH,

    Doug.

    Hi Jan

Harold filed for divorce in 1953 so they won't be together. Searched various cemeteries around Newcastle to no avail.
Newcastle Memorial Park, has no deceased search online but Harold might well
be there. Perhaps an email might produce a result.
Apart from that, Doug's suggestion seems the way to go. Transcription
services can be found on NSW Registry of BDM's website.

    Regards

If he was cremated, the crematorium might still have or even disposed of the remains after all this time. They may be been collected and kept at home. My sister has our parents in her cupboard.

    Hello Di
Thanks for your response.. I found out that he was cremated at Beresfield Crematorium and his ashes scattered.
