• Obtaining the 1921 Census via FMP

I have around 12 people who I can see on the 1921 Census search within
FMP, and I'm considering a Premium subscription to do so, but at $350
(AUS) its a bit expensive for me.

I realise I can go for a lesser cost subscription like the Plus or Pro,
go for the three month only, then pay again to receive the Census
    transcript.
There seems to be a market here for FMP for a cheaper One Month sub
    only.

Another thought of mine is that I just bite the bullet and go for a 12
month Premium subscription, do what I need to do, say over one or two
    months, then cancel my subscription.
But then I'd guess FMP has thought of this too and made the
cancellation date to be the end of your subscription, so you're stuck
    with the full fee anyway.

I wondered what the experiences of others have been around this, and
how they decided to tackle it ?

    Many thanks

I have the full subscription and they offered a pretty good deal for
unlimited lookups for the end of the year. The cost seemed worth it for
    the wealth of information.

If you only have 12, then it seems a bit much, however you will find an
awful lot about your relatives, be able to keep a tree and add records.

If you like, you can send me a couple of your requests and I can look
them up for you. I don't think it'd be ethical for me to do them all
but you may have other people offer to do lookups for you. I understand
not everyone can accord their prices.

    use nigel

    net

with the appropriate dots and ats and I'll see if I can help.

See if there are any libraries in Australia that have the FMP library
    edition.

Or wait for FMP's exclusive access to expire, 'up to three years'
according to FMP's website, which seems odd. Either it is three years
or it isn't, but they should know what it is.

I will check around but within the FMP help blurb it did say all
library access has been removed for the 1921 Census.

It seems to me a monthly only, Premium access would solve the problem
for FMP and help attract customers and boost profit.
I reckon "up to three years," meant they were going for the big bucks &
the opportunity to make them, all the time judging the level of
frustration in their customers should they need to back down.

For an explanation of the "up to three years" see the section
Why is the 1921 census not on Ancestry? at https://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/feature/when-will-the-1921-census-be-available/
The 1921 census will be exclusively available on Findmypast for up to
three years (until 2025), after which The National Archives (TNA) will
be able to set up deals with other partners such as Ancestry,
    TheGenealogist or MyHeritage.

Writing "up to three years" means FMP don't need to update their
explanation as time goes by and they don't need to give a clear
    exclusivity end date.

Some libraries have it the UK, not many though. Only four or five.
