I don't think it's Latin; the rest of the page has no Latin - usually
there's at least some, such as "erat" for "was".

My first thought is that it's Smith: Margery Hastings Smith, Ann
Hollsmith, Baircroft Edwards Smith. But it does look like it has a
double letter at the end.

I'd like to find the same letter in the same hand - it looks a bit like
his d (compare "Thomas Wa*** widdower"), but it has a line through it -
but I can't see any other such on the page, or at least the bit you've
given us. Though that "widdower" does show he spells that with a double
d, and the "wi" do look very like the ones you've highlighted.

Although I am on latest Windows 10, I still use the old Windows Live Mail.
This has the option of "Attach file" at the top.
There is probably something similar in your newsreader.

Some newsservers do allow attachments, sometimes only below a certain
size; some don't for their own users, but sometimes pass on such posts
if received from their peers rather than their users.

It's not what you send with, it's the news server you use - some allow attachments, some only below a certain size, some don't but do pass on
posts that already contain them.

As for WLM: could you switch to something else, or at least to a version
before (I think it was) version 15? It screws up posting royally, i. e.
doesn't insert _anything_ (such as ">") to indicate which is text quoted
from the previous post, and which is your new text. In addition, you're
posting below the previous poster's signature (denoted by the "-- " line
[note the space]), so your text appears in my newsreader - and I'm sure
others - as if it's part of their signature (in my case in blue), so I
tend not to really see it.

May sound petty/nitpicking, but I have known other newsgroups where
people using WLM version 15 (I think) or later have actually been
killfiled by those fed up of trying to work out who said what in posts
from it!

You might have a look at http://www.dusko-lolic.from.hr/wlmquote/ ,
which was touted as a fix for WLM, a bit like OE-Quotefix was for
Outlook Express; I don't know if it's any good.
