• How do I get a record of baptism in Bordeaux?

    From L Bruyas@21:1/5 to All on Wed Mar 29 12:37:45 2017
Hi everyone, I am looking for a baptism record in Bordeaux, in the paroisse de St. Andre, from 1814. I managed to find the civil birth certificate from the site http://gael.gironde.fr/ but it doesn't mention the names of the grandparents.
    My question(s) is/are:
    1. Does the baptismal record mention these?
    2. If so, can I get it from internet?
    3. If it's not available online, is there anyone willing to help me to get this record, since I live thousands of miles away?

I have the precise date of birth and the name of the parish.

Thanks a lot for any help.

This is done in Spain and her colonies. For example, in Louisiana
during the Spanish period, baptisms had the grandparents. But it is
    not in the French culture.

In catholic baptisms, however, you have the god parents (parrain
and marraine), who are usually not the grand-parents.

    2. If so, can I get it from internet?

Write to the church ! From the French revolution, the state has
its own records (in AC and AD) but the church may have their own
records. So we have typically 3 records : the AC copy (town), the
AD copy (département) and the church copy, this since 1792.

    3. If it's not available online, is there anyone willing to help me to get this record, since I live thousands of miles away?

Write to the church. But anyway, you won't get the grandparents.
