Trump says "Well, I never minded that very much to be honest. We helped the Philippines very much. We helped them defeat ISIS... I don't really mind if they would like to do that, it will save a lot of money. My views are
    different from others."

Trump did the right thing to say he doesn't mind if Philippines ends
military pact. This is the opportunity for other defence treaty countries, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and NATO, that do not wish to pay more to them
    for their service presence.

The protection pact prevents them from their right of the host country to foster its own relationship with their choice of economic ties with their
own chosen countries. This means the alliance is not permitted to mount
their own foreign relationship and economic ties with those non-allied countries instead.

The US should know that the era of defence treaties is like a "gangster
Mafia demanding rise pay in order for their rise in yearly protection fees" without outcome of results of visiting them.

Trump was asked whether he would try to persuade Duterte to reconsider,
Trump told reporters at the White House: "Well, I never minded that very
much to be honest. We helped the Philippines very much. We helped them
defeat ISIS... I don't really mind if they would like to do that, it will
save a lot of money. My views are different from others."

Trump said he had "a very good" relationship with Duterte and added: "we'll
see what happens." Duterte's decision, sparked by the revocation of a US
visa held by a former police chief who led his bloody war on drugs, could complicate US military interests in the Asia-Pacific region as China's ambitions rise.
