The rule prohibiting women in age group 10-50 was formulated in days
when there were abundant forests, lots of wild animals and no proper
roads. Those days there were many instances of tiger attacks. In fact
people had to walk about 40 miles through thick jungles to reach the Sannidhanam.
Not today. Forests have been denuded, less forests and so less
animals, shorter distances and better hygiene.
So why prevent women who want to have a darshan of Swami Ayyappan
