Kochi - Initiation of a Vigilance case has been
recommended against K Babu, Congress's Excise Minister in
Kerala's former UDF Government and a close confidant of
then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, in connection with the
alleged irregularities in the awarding of bar licences
and formulation of policies in this regard.
The Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau may soon
register an FIR against Babu at the Special Vigilance
Court in Muvattupuzha, Ernakulam on the basis of the
findings mentioned in the report of a quick verification
carried out by the Superintendent of Police (Vigilance),
Central Region. The preliminary inquiry had found that
there was prima facie evidence for corruption.
