Kochi - In a setback for Kerala's Congress Chief Minister
Oommen Chandy ahead of Monday's crucial Assembly
election, a court in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday
dismissed a petition he had filed seeking orders for
preventing nonagenarian Opposition leader VS
Achuthanandan from making "baseless" allegations
publically against him.
The Vacation Bench of the Additional District and
Sessions Court in Thiruvananthapuram also said that the
trial court would take up the charges leveled against
Achuthanandan in the defamation petition filed by Chandy
but he added that it did not want to say at this juncture
whether the defamation suit was legally maintainable.
