In the recent discussions in SCH, it is becoming clear that many
members from College de samthong have found this forum ua chaw sib
nraus. Why? We can do better than that as we are much , much more
better that many are acting in SCH.

The inaugural group of 31 people has 18 members survived by 1971 and
they all got entry to Lycee de Viethiane, the first time that we have
that many Hmong in that presitgious Lycee in Laos. But this group is
also the group that almost been wipe out afte the first yaear at
Lycee...only 2-3 actually survive to 1975. But all the subsequent
groups that would be around 200+ arebthe most imporatnt group that i
refer to. If there is no change of political situation in laos, the
members from College Samthong would make bigger impact on history.
Despite the turbulent that we had to go thru, there are still many
people have succeeding exceptionally well and many have achieved
higher education in the West, in many fields... few are even making
    history now!!

Members of College Samthong are a very important group of Hmong across
the third world as they are the largest educated Hmong from Laos,.. so
be proud of who you are...They are the last group , the dinnasor group
-as Lis Txov told me recently when he visited Oz, to act as the
"bridge" for the young and the old Hmong, between the Hmong and the
citizen of the world. This group is the last group that still have the knowledge of the way it was in laos prior to 1975 and they are the
trail blazers for the post 1975 in the West. This group is the last
group that can speak and write Lao, Hmong , Thai, French and
English,. There will NOT be any group of Hmong, as large as the
Samthong group ever again.. Once this group passed on...the young
generation will no longer have any link to Laos and it is hard to
imagine the loss to the Hmong without this bridging group.

Cov phoojywg es.... peb yuav tau siv peb tej sijhawm los ua tej yam
uas peb yug los ua. It is not a mistaken that we are in the West...
there is a destiny for each one of us... so...may be it is time to
turn inward, come together and finish our job (whatever it may be)
that we born to do. Time is too short to spend time, wasting sib raus
    hauv SCH no.

    just a passing sobering thought...

DU, thank you for sharing your insightful thoughts. Your observation deserved absolute commendation. Just wanted to let you know that many of the College Samthong alumni, whether they are still in Laos or living in the US or France, this group of
students have achieved great success. They were the trail blazers, the first graduating group from HS, receiving bachelor degrees and advanced degrees and holding prestige positions. College Samthong prepared these students well and they were the top of
the crops. No doubt, they are the bridge between the past and the present, the first and the second generation.
