Free speech and free press are, theoretically, required for self governing and self flourishing. Are they? Let us considered three CNN articles related to the death of a Capitol policeman Sicknick.

    " Sicknick’s death
The video shows Sicknick in the crypt of the Capitol, appearing to give instructions to some of the nearby rioters who are milling around the area, repeatedly waving his arms. Carlson argued that Sicknick looks “healthy and vigorous” in the video,
and therefore “it’s hard to imagine” that he was severely injured by the rioters or that he died because of the insurrection.

On January 6, Sicknick was attacked with pepper spray and physically fought with members of the mob. An officer testified that she saw Sicknick in significant distress after he was sprayed. He died one day later after suffering a series of strokes. The
DC medical examiner ruled that he died of natural causes but said, “all that transpired (on January 6) played a role in his condition.”

"The medical examiner, Francisco Diaz, didn’t note any evidence that Sicknick had an allergic reaction to chemical spray or list any internal or external injuries, according to The Washington Post, which first reported the ruling. Still, Diaz told
the newspaper that “all that transpired” on January 6 “played a role in his condition.

"Sicknick had what the medical examiner called acute brainstem and cerebellar infarcts due to acute basilar artery thrombosis – a specific type of blood clot in the brain. "
    -----------------------------------------------------------

Taking all 3 together, only the Medical Examiner's "all that transpired ...play a role" suggests a linkage between Sicknick's death and Jan 6.

    How strong is the linkage?
It is a matter of how to interpret "all that transpired". And more important, whether the phrase should be read negatively or positively.

If a bullet punctures a person heart or brain and kills him, one can say "all that transpired before the bullet has entered the body played NO role. Can one say the same on thrombosis with well established long term causes?

"Thrombosis can happen for many reasons, but certain conditions are more likely to cause clots to form. These conditions fall under the following types or categories.
    Circulatory and heart problems:
Conditions like atherosclerosis, where arteries stiffen because of a buildup of plaque (a waxy substance related to cholesterol) inside them, often cause clots.
    ...
    Blood clotting problems
Several conditions and problems can cause your blood to clot more easily. These conditions can happen for the following reasons:..."

If one cannot talk about thrombosis death like gunshot death, the "all that transpired ...play a role" obviously meant to be used negatively. It is not meant to establish a positive link. As a matte of FACT, “all that transpired (on January 6) played
a role in his condition” is as true as "“all that transpired during the past X years played a role in his condition.”

"Tucker Carlson did his version of the January 6th special, and it came with plenty of controversies. Allegedly, Carlson’s team spent looking at over 40,000 hours of the footage from that day and came to several conclusions.

Fox aired Carlson’s special on Capitol Riot, and among the aspects of this investigation was the death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick.

The tragic death of the officer, who passed away on January 7, was the subject of several media stories, with one side claiming that his death was due to the riots and the other saying it was from natural causes.

Sicknick’s family issues a statement regarding the allegation from the Fox network, calling the Carlson’s special “unscrupulous and outright sleazy.”"
    -------------------------------------------------------------

American media has a lot of “unscrupulous and outright sleazy” reporting. But Tucker Carlson's report regarding the tragic death Officier Sicknick was not one.

    To recap,
    1. Officer Sicknick died on Jan 7th.

    2. "The medical examiner, Francisco Diaz, didn’t note any evidence that Sicknick had an allergic reaction to chemical spray or list any internal or external injuries, according to The Washington Post, which first reported the ruling. Still, Diaz told
the newspaper that “all that transpired” on January 6 “played a role in his condition" according to one CNN article

    3. "Sicknick had what the medical examiner called acute brainstem and cerebellar infarcts due to acute basilar artery thrombosis – a specific type of blood clot in the brain" according to another CNN article.
