• [CGTN] Exclusive interview with Prof. John J. Mearsheimer on Ukraine cr

From ltlee1@21:1/5 to All on Thu Feb 23 09:10:58 2023
Prof. John J. Mearsheimer is one of the few US voice which blamed US policy toward expanding NATO membership despite repeated Russian warnings. And finally trigger the war in Ukraine.

He thought Biden's strong anti-Russia has made the US less respected and less successful in most of the world outside of the West, Japan, and South Korea.

Mearsheimer also compared President Trump and Biden's foreign policy and found Biden more a warmonger among the two.

One of his main point is that the US is unlikely to let Ukraine lost but Russia has greater incentive to win. The war would be long
and the number of artillery and shells which strongly favor the Russia may be determine the outcome in a war of attrition.

Yes, Biden is more of a warmonger. This old hag seems to have a brain changing temper surging more and more drastic action whenever he gets confused. He needs to send himself for a brain checkup.

Don't think his age and associated physical and mental fitness explain his war-mongering.

Rather he has been part of the US ruling establishment since 1973. Seeing the world
through a kind of Cold War lens is inevitable. And of course, the belief that US democratic
system is naturally superior and invincible. It had defeated the former USSR, he should have
little problem defeating Russia under Putin.

Being the president of the US after Trump is also a chip on his shoulder. He is widely expected
to the one whose mission is to reinvigorate US democratic and moral leadership. Backed up by
    force/punishment whenever necessarily.

US withdrawal like a bungling amateur adds another chip on his shoulder. He needs to prove
    himself.

Another factor is America have been changing since Trump. Political polarization is becoming
worse. And Americans are treating each other more crassly, often unnecessarily. Applying the
same mentality to foreign nations, more war mongering is to be expected.
