Established in accordance with the Protocol concluded by the P.R.C. and the U.S.A.
on "Industrial Science & Tech Management and Science & Tech Information Cooperation",
the National Center for Industrial Science & Tech Management Development at Dalian (NCIS&TMD)
is Co-sponsored by the State Economic Commission, the State Science & Tech Commission,
and the Ministry of Education of China and the Dept. of Commerce of the U.S.A. It is
located on the campus of the Dalian Institute of Technology (DIT).
NCIS&TMD, as its name suggested, is an institute which Provides training Programs
for Senior & Intermediate level managerial personnel from all over China. The focus
of the program is on studying modern American management & managerial techniques,
plus training the participants in modern industrial management and sci & tech management.
In addition, there are future prospects for becoming a research & consulting center as
well as a center for academic exchange.
NCIS&TMD began its first training session on Aug. 18, 1980, which had an enrollment
of 120 participants and lasted 4 months. The second session began on May 4, 1981 and
ended after 6 months of intensive study with a total attendance of 180 participants.
The third session also had 180 participants, who studied from May 4 through Oct. 1982.

The fifth session started on Jan. 27, 1984 with 154 participants attending for the
study of 8 months. Required courses offered were: Managerial Math, Applied Statistics,
Western Economics, Theoretical Questions on Socialist Economy, Managerial Accounting,
Basic Computer Rationale & Computer Language, Managerial Economics, Marketing, Decision
Support System, Financial Management, Organizational Behavior, Production Management,
Science & Tech Management, Strategy & Policy and Advanced Financial Mangement, etc.;
elective courses were: Economic Forecasting, International Marketing, Advanced Production
Management, Project Financing, Project Management, Economic Law, Role of Small Firms in
International Trade and Risk, the cost of capital and investment decisions in private
enterprise and socialist economies.
The outstanding work of the professors and other staff members from both China and
the U.S.A. contributed greatly to the success of all the 5 sessions. For the purpose
of enhancing the friendship between the members of the American visiting team, the
Chinese faculty and staff members and the participants, this address book has been
specially compiled and is presented here to you with our compliments.
