• COVID-19 protests in China

From gerard jud@21:1/5 to All on Sun Nov 27 17:02:48 2022
In recent days, protests have risen in a few areas in China over lockdowns. Those protesters in China are not thinking.

Now is not the time to loosen restrictions. It’s winter, the season when infectious diseases tend to worsen. Many countries are preparing for the next wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Infections are on the increase again in China’s next door neighbors
such as Japan and S. Korea.

In the US, the worse of the countries infected, it’s not over yet.

The U.S. is 'certainly' still in a Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Fauci says (cnbc.com)

Most stupid are those Chinese protesters who shout for democracy and freedom.

In the US, the bastion of democracy and freedom, the pandemic has so far resulted in over 100 millions infections and over a million deaths. Both numbers are still counting up.

If China were to have the same rate of infections as the US, there would be over 400 millions Chinese infected and over 4 millions of them dead. Those protesters should count themselves lucky that they are still healthy enough to be able to protest
loudly. If not for those restrict measures maintained by their government, they would be sick in bed at home or in the hospitals. Or dead.

Yet, while there are mounting protests in China, there is hardly any protest in the US. This shows that democracy and freedom have become opium which numb the people to their pains and sufferings.

This is the time for the Chinese government to show strong and firm leadership and not let the country be hijacked by some ignorant, unthinking and selfish individuals.

China was over-populated 50 years ago, and now
China is vastly over-populated! We need to stop
making flu, MMR and Covid shots, to shorten the
average life span by a few years!

The Chinese government has capitulated. This is not right.
It should remove extreme measures like locking people in their residences. It should increase vaccinations of the population.
But not remove lockdowns all over China. Winter is here. The rate of infections has increased to about 30K daily. If not handled carefully, the sudden opening ups may result in a tsunami of infections. If this happens before the Chinese New Year, the
government will have more to answer for.

    What has China done?

Switching from full control to no control, in panic.

This is so wrong. It's against the principle of good governance.
The timing is wrong. It's Winter. Chinese New Year is approaching.
Two previous occasions should have provided lessons. After the Mooncake Festival and National Day holidays, the pandemic picked up. This means the robustness of the population against infection is not there. This should be remedied before any full
    opening-up.

The reason for the full opening up is worse than the timing. The government has given in to protests. What's more they were political protests with call of "Down with the Communist Party", "Xi Jinping step down". This should be easy to handle. Its
baffling why the regime response to the protests with full dismantling of the lockdown.

When they lockdown, they claim its scientific. When they fully open up, again they claim its scientific. The sudden and full opening is not scientific at all. System science will teach you that a big system, if subjected to big sudden change, will
    generate system instability.

Its a grave mistake. The opening up should have been gradual. China has again created opportunities for foreign countries to criticise the government and country. Doomsayers on China are back in full force. Western media is back again with lots of fake
news, disinformation, misinformation and outright lies. The international reputation of China is at stake. Countries which Chinese want to travel to are restricting their entries.

Western nations are showing their hypocrisies. What China has done, i.e., living with the virus, has been done in the West for many months now. The pandemic is still there. Daily, there are still large numbers of infections and deaths in Western
countries. The only difference is that being the most populous nation of abut 1.4 billion, the numbers are bigger for China.

If the situation gets out of control, China should accept help from other countries. This is no time for national pride.

Best scenario: The infections peak and peter out. The pandemic is brought under control and life goes back to normal.
Worst scenario: Infections grow uncontrollably due to new variants of the virus, leading to a whole nation lockdown.
