Chinese in general accept a cyclical view of history. Officials warned about 亡國亡黨 （the death of the country and the death of the party) because of
corruption all the time. But a lot more during the end of Hu's leadership. Less such talk with Xi which has evidently worked hard to clean up Chinese officialdom.
