We all knew China was weak. How does the US Navy warship challenges Chinese territorial claims in the South China Sea and get away with it?

To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.- Sun Tzu, Art of War
It requires paradigm shift in thinking, how do you neutralize the biggest military power in the world? how do you disarm the biggest gun? how do you make the deadliest aircraft carrier impotent? how do you deal with a murderous bully?
Trillions of dollars worth of weapons are useless against China. They cannot use them.
1- Mutual economic interdependence.
2- Powerful defense to hurt invaders badly.
3- Avoid direct confrontation.
4- Global diplomatic network of friendly countries.
5- Denial of all land invasion access.
6- Denial of all sea invasion access by missiles.
As you can see, all the American ships in South China Sea are irrelevant and inconsequential.

It’s obvious the US is very strong militarily. You can’t spend more money than the next 10 strongest countries and still be weak. On the other hand, China is no pushover either. If the US can destroy China as it destroyed Iraq, China would be a
The Chinese should go down on their knees to thank their leaders for saving them with their successful modernization of the PLA.Bears watching. Fed has mothballed the printing machine and may go on reverse-QE.
Is it any wonder the Chinese are 100% satisfied with their government while those who wish them ill revile the Chinese government?

While all the American ships in South China Sea are irrelevant and inconsequential to China, they are serving at least two very important purposes:
1) to justify the extreme high military spending to serve their Military Industrial Complex (MIC) which is critical to the US econmy;
2) to show to their voters that US is being very firm against China which has been established by their propaganda as an evil empire.
For the same reason while lots of people see that US had wasted 20 years in Afghanistan, it had served their MIC really well and helped lots of the elites made tons of money.

When you said that high military spending serves the MIC & is critical to the US economy, do you mean critical in the positive or negative sense? US may already have reached the point of military diarrhea, good for the MIC and bad for the economy.
I was in my early twenties when I met those people.
They were in their forties and fifties at least at that time.
George Gee had a daughter my age, and he died suddenly in the late 1960s. Gene Gin must be a hundred years old by now, if he's still alive.
Sorry to say, Satish. You are full of baloney.
You can't even lie properly on this.
Satish Kumar Madhavan is a born liar. The only thing you can do is lie.
George Gee tried to get me to go and marry his daughter.
Besides, he died in Glendale when I was working at Pacific Missile Range.
His friend, Gene, supported both both his family and George Gee's family
after he died suddenly.
