How long would a war between the United States and Russia last?
That’s a good question… realistically… the US couldn’t do it alone… and if they were taking it to the Russians… it would be even worse…
The US would have to attack from the Black Sea… because if it got to close to China it would be a huge problem for them, of course the other problem with being in the black sea, is Turkey on the the other side? China would definitely come to the
support of Russia and together their combined forces are double that of the US.
A simple metric is, Russia and China have 143 subs combined, the US has 68. The Belgorod and Type 93 carrier killers would make very short work of the US fleets. Russia China combined have 2.85 million active soldiers to Americas 1.45 million. Russia’s
advancement in hypersonic missiles is such that the US has no defense, which the US have admitted.
The US has never taken on an equal opponent, their asymmetrical strategy has always been to take on smaller weaker countries with limited to no military defense. They are not going to change that to take on a force that is more than twice the size, and
with Russia leading with their experience their defense would unstoppable.
CONCLUSION:
The US will not go to war with Russia, the numbers bear that out… also they know the financial cost would run the US broke, the loss of carriers alone would weaken the US to the stage it would not be able to rebuild. China can build 5 type 55 advanced
destroyers for the same price as America’s Zumwalt destroyer at a cost of USD $4.4 billion, to lose those and their carriers would be something the US would never recover from.
