Why has communist China’s zero-Covid policy failed?
It seems to be working. Mainland China has less than 100 infections per day. US is up to 1 million / day.

Also Taiwan has the same policy.

Xian infections are dropping like a rock.

About Western coverage of Xian, all they coverage is about the inconvenience, but no one mentioned why they locked it down.

The issue was that at the end of December they were looking at a lot of infections with no obvious connections. If you do nothing the numbers will keep going up and spread to other cities.

So they hit the reset button and locked down the city and now that the incubation period has passed the numbers are dropping sharply. Yes you have problems with food distribution. They've fired the officials responsible for that.

What the government has said is that once they can trace the source of the infections they will open up districts.
