    Why do Hongkongers not feel Chinese?
    Racism essentially.

    Hong Kong was the Jewel for a while with quality of life far surpassing that of PRC China.

    A taxi driver or a labourer could go to China and have a second family there on his wages the wealth disparity was so large.

    But then China caught up REALLY fast and suddenly the tables were turned and those racists? They harvested it and started blaming everything on China EVERYTHING.

    As such you get twonks who never lived under the British (I did) imagining it was a UTOPIA (it wasn’t) and you get salty white guys who talk as if it was great because they were on the other side of the apartheid wall.
