Why don't people realize that China has nukes and what nuclear weapons can do? Why is the west antagonizing a nuclear armed giant like China? Do people actually want the world to end? Is China THAT much of a threat to humanity?
Far too many people in our world are irrational. Washington policymakers are playing a game of geopolitical poker. They think they can bluff China into a corner. But this is very dangerous.

In any nuclear exchange, both sides would get destroyed. It’s called MAD (mutually assured destruction). There are no winners in nuclear war.

China has 350 nukes as far as we know. But US intelligence is not always reliable. Some experts believe China has many more.

At any rate, if China can lob 50–100 nukes (not difficult at all) over to the continental USA, that’s more than enough to:

wipe out dozens of US cities
kill tens of millions of Americans
cause decades of cancer, disease, famine, etc.
create vast stretches of radioactive wasteland that will be uninhabitable for centuries
wipe out America’s industrial and technological base
cause anarchy in Mad Max style (or Fear of the Walking Dead style)
Sure, America will “survive,” if you can call it that. But I think most Americans will not be thankful.

Here’s the thing…

Accidents happen. Human beings are prone to errors.

We cannot guarantee that we have rational leaders. Donald Trump, Jair Bolsonaro, and Scott Morrison are prime examples.

Is China THAT much of a threat to humanity?

China is not a threat at all. China is the most peaceful and benevolent world power the world has ever known:

China has not fought a single war since 1979. That’s over 42 years ago! Meanwhile, America has fought wars in Afghanistan, Bosnia, El Salvador, Grenada, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, etc.
China has been helping countries in the Global South, as well as countries in Europe, build their infrastructure via the Belt and Road Initiative.

China has been helping countries in the Global South vaccinate their populations as the rich Western nations have abandoned them through vaccine hoarding.
China has been pursuing diplomacy throughout the Middle East rather than bombing the shit out of the region. Recently, China signed a 25-year cooperation deal with Iran. And China has been negotiating with the Taliban for the future of Afghanistan
instead of invading and occupying the country for 20 years.
China has engaged the ASEAN countries in peaceful trade through RCEP, the world’s largest free trade bloc.
On the other hand, USA has been:

operating supercarrier strike groups just off the coast of China
conducting international naval exercises in the SCS
arming Taiwan and Japan
forming the Quad and AUKUS pacts
selling nuclear-powered submarines to Australia to use in the SCS
manufacturing consent for war with China with accusations of genocide and aggression towards Taiwan (China’s own territory!)
It is USA that is the threat to humanity.
