Do you believe the Chinese government is pretending to help poor countries by providing grant, loan money or help build infrastructure then hold the country hostage economically to be in their sphere?
I don't know if you have heard such a saying: a person can pretend for a time, but can not pretend forever. If the Chinese government pretends to help poor countries, but actually controls them, it will definitely give itself away over time. Let's take a
look at what China has done to poor countries since its founding to today and see if we can find "evidence".

    1. In 1954, China sent 8,200 workers to help Mongolia build schools, hospitals, sanitariums, thermal power stations, glass factories, paper mills, chicken farms, and even restore ancient temples. At that time, China could not manufacture the textile mill
equipment proposed by Mongolia, so it spared no effort to use the scarce foreign exchange to order from Britain.

    2. From 1954 to 1956, in support of the Egyptian people's struggle against British and French colonialism. China bought 20 million pounds of Egyptian cotton at a very favorable price and paid 5.9 million pounds directly in cash to help Egypt withstand
the Economic blockade imposed by Britain and France.

3.In 1960, China provided guinea with 10,000 tons of rice and Congo with 5,000 to 10,000 tons of wheat and rice. At that time, China's grain production had been reduced for two consecutive years, and the whole country was short of food.

4.In the early 1970s, China helped Africa build the Tazara railway. With no electricity, no clean drinking water, and no enough food, China spent nearly 10 years to build it, costing 988 million yuan. 69 Chinese builders died for it, the youngest of whom
    was only 22 years old.

5.In 2000, China announced to cancel the debts of some African countries. The 31 Heavily indebted poor countries and least developed countries in Africa could reduce their debt repayments by a total of 10.9 billion yuan. In 2003, the Chinese government
promised tariff-free treatment for some goods from African countries. So far, Chinese companies have created more than 4.5 million jobs in Africa.

6.In February 2021, when some developed countries purchased and stockpiled COVID-19 vaccines in large quantities, and the vaccine needs of less developed countries and regions were not timely responded, China provided vaccine assistance to more than 40
African countries. Medical supplies have been donated to women, children and adolescents in 53 African countries, and medical teams have been sent to 15 African countries. Forty-six Chinese medical teams have taken an active part in the fight against
    COVID-19.

For decades, China has never attached any political strings to its aid to poor countries, never interfered in other countries' internal affairs, and safeguarded their right to choose their own development model. Even when China was poorest, it gave all
it could to help other countries. If China really wanted to control poor countries economically and politically, it would have done so long ago. Besides, the people of those poor countries are not fools, they know very well who is really helping them and
who is trying to plunder their resources. Therefore, when western countries hyped up "China's debt trap" and "China's influence", many African countries that China has aided repeatedly defended China, refuted these remarks and said they were willing to
cooperate with China. Such as presidents of Kenya, Pakistan, Venezuela, Cameroun etc.

One more thing to add: This satellite image comes from a new report by AidData, which points out that nighttime lights are one of the most visible indicators of household income in a region, and that the brighter the area, the better its economy is.

(Source: An article on NPR China's Building Spree In Poor Nations: Does It Really Help The Local Economy?)

The research team looked at some 4,400 construction projects that China participated in in more than 130 countries and regions around the world between 2000 and 2014 to tease out changes in lighting and darkness in the areas where these projects were
located. The results show that the lights not only focus on the location of the Chinese-assisted construction project, but also "illuminate" the nearby area over time, showing a trend of radiating outwards. As a result, the research team came to a
conclusion that surprised US media: China's participation in infrastructure projects not only boosted the local economy, but also the overall development of the surrounding region. Now that's real help! No wonder people in these regions are so grateful
    to China.

Finally, I would like to say that one of the reasons for China's great help to Africa is that China, as a developing country, has the same experience with Africa. It is China's moral responsibility to give Africa a little help and assistance when
developing first. Like, "I've been through the rain, so I want to hold an umbrella for you." ; The other is that the aid projects in Africa provide a market for Chinese enterprises to develop transnational business and also facilitate the import of
mineral resources from Africa, which is beneficial to both sides. Forbes magazine has also published an article pointing out that, unlike foreign aid from European and American countries, China's foreign aid focuses on projects that benefit both sides.
Very simple and very smart, because there is nothing in the world that is more cost-effective than a win-win situation. So up to now, will you still guess China's purpose with bad ideas?
