Why can't China internationalize the Yuan to counter US sanctions?
Actually China has gone one step further with the new digital yuan.

Chinese don't carry money anymore everything is held on their phone you can't walk into a shop and use paper money everything is being digitalized. It's faster easier and much more convenient.

It is the future of how transactions will be managed, modern technology and the use of 5G and what will soon become 6g has given Chinese people opportunities to do things in their lives that they have never had the opportunity to do to say nothing about
being more technologically advanced than America the UK and the EU

Why do you need digital currency if it is still centralized?

Why not use the ordinary currency but a cashless system?
There are a lot of stores that don't accept cash anymore here in northern Europe.

If you want to use digital currency, use an actual digital currency with a decentralized system.

China can do the digitization as people have already got used to the
wallet digital payment system for many years already.

The introduction of digital currency will be launched very soon - likely
    in February 2022.

This e-currency can be implemented in China by the government and will
    be operated by banks.

Individuals and businesses will use e-currency to purchase goods online
and offline, as well as pay electricity,, tolls and transport fares.

For China, this is the right step to digital currency. There will be no
loss of money, more traceability, and more accurate as to where the
balance of payment is and hence there will be accountability for it.

How can there be "an actual digital currency with a decentralized system"?
The only way to have "digital currency" IS a centralized system!!
