Military aid is a joke in the mind of US. They want to charge Taiwan as much
a possible to milk all their moneys, instead.
Military weapons and equipment have no price tags. Any manipulated price can serve to their customers to buy them.
This is because customers cannot compare them with competitions if they have
to buy from the only source of one country, i.e US.
Hence, Taiwan as not choice but to pay through their nose for hundreds of thousands of dollars more even when the cost is a fraction of it.
For example, a set of rocket armoury pack may already over priced by several millions dollars, but a rocket ammunition per piece can be worth US$200,000

Hence, there are a lot of profits can be plucked out from the "thin air" pricing. All it takes is for the US government to recommend even the old
unsold sets for sale to their customers.
Hence, US will not care about Taiwan's friendship with them, if they know to milk billions of dollars from Taiwan upping every item on their price tags.
