it is a part of China according to this history. And 2) China, currently represented by the PRC and the successor state of the ROC, would never
give up this claim.
At present, it is the implicit cross strait consensus as Taiwan residents know it
is "No independence, no unification by force. " That is as long as Taiwan does
not declare independence. PRC would not invade to reunify Taiwan by force.
