• [In Fiscal Year (FY) 2022, CBP seized nearly 15,000 pounds of fentanyl]

The OFO (Office of Field Operations) blames China for exporting fentanyl precursor.

"As others have testified,1 synthetic opioids like fentanyl and its analogues are produced using precursor chemicals made available by criminal elements, often in the People’s Republic of China, that are shipped to Mexico where TCOs use these
precursors to finish the production of illicit fentanyl or one of its analogues. "

However, the report contains no evidence on China exporting illicit fentanyl or one of its analogues.

    "Drug Trends and Interdictions
In Fiscal Year (FY) 2022, CBP seized nearly 15,000 pounds of fentanyl, nearly 2,000 pounds of heroin, 175,000 pounds of methamphetamine, and more than 70,000 pounds of cocaine and we are on track to seize as much, if not more, this year.3 At our POEs
    alone, fentanyl seizures have
increased more than 200 percent in the last two fiscal years4 and, with the more than 10,000 pounds of fentanyl already seized to date in FY 2023, OFO is on track to surpass last fiscal year’s total seizures by the end of April.
    ...
As noted above, most illicit drugs, including fentanyl, enter the United States through our Southwest Border POEs: last fiscal year, nearly 66 percent of illicit drugs seized by CBP at the Southwest Border were seized at POEs.7 The drugs are concealed in
privately owned vehicles, commercial vehicles, and even pedestrians. Although less frequent, fentanyl and other synthetic opioids are also encountered in international mail facility (IMF) and express consignment carrier (ECC) environments."

Judging from the above, no China originated fentanyl and precursors.

The OFO also targets precursor chemicals shipped through the United States to destinations in Mexico and other countries.

"OFO targets precursor chemicals shipped through the United States to destinations in Mexico and other countries. While many of the
precursor chemicals used to synthesize methamphetamines and synthetic illicit opioids such as fentanyl have legitimate uses, CBP has sufficient authority to intercept and seize precursors if they can be identified as having illicit end-use intentions,
including the production of illicit drugs. "

I am sure the meaning of "shipped through the United States" Does the phrase also includes shipped from the US?

    Questions:
How much fentanyl and fentanyl precursors had been shipped through the US? How much was identified as having illicit end-use? And of course, from where?

An indictment certainly indicates a desire to prosecute. Not necessarily means sufficient evidence.
The indictment would be more meaningful if illicit precursor chemical was also sized.

    Only claims. Nothing proven.

The obvious implication is that Chinese companies are trying to make money, money, money and they don't care who dies.

    Again, ZERO physical evidence.

We don't know what evidence will be presented at the trials. Do you?

As is, I cannot tell whether Prosecutor wants to make a political statement or it really wants to solve US addiction problems.

However, the report contains no evidence on China exporting illicit fentanyl or one of its analogues.
Just the precursors come from China.

AMARVEL BIOTECH has openly advertised online its shipment of fentanyl precursor chemicals to the United States and to Mexico, where drug cartels operate clandestine laboratories, synthesize finished fentanyl at scale, and distribute the deadly
    fentanyl into and throughout the United States. Through its website and a host of other storefront sites, AMARVEL BIOTECH has targeted precursor chemical customers in Mexico, including by advertising fentanyl precursors as a “Mexico hot sale”;
guaranteeing “100% stealth shipping” abroad; and posting to its websites documentation of AMARVEL BIOTECH shipping chemicals to Culiacan, the home city of the Sinaloa Cartel, one of the dominant drug trafficking organizations in the Western
Hemisphere and which is largely responsible for the massive influx of fentanyl into the United States in recent years.
    Only claims. Nothing proven.
The obvious implication is that Chinese companies are trying to make money, money, money and they don't care who dies.

    Again, ZERO physical evidence.

We don't know what evidence will be presented at the trials. Do you?

If there is anything substantial, the media would certainly repeat the information Ad nauseam.
If the prosecution really want to have a case beyond signaling, it would certainly wait for solid
evidence rather than touting on information glance from possibly phishing email/website.

As is, I cannot tell whether Prosecutor wants to make a political statement or it really wants to solve US addiction problems.

It's like the reverse of the Opium Wars. Let's hope the PRC government helps out.
What reverse Opium Wars? So far, zero evidence that the PRC had export Fentanyl in quantity.

Again, CBP seized nearly 15,000 pounds of fentanyl, yet zero fentanyl and precursors from China.

On one hand, widespread report that China had exported fentanyl and/or precursor chemicals. On the
other hand, zero evidence. The media would certainly repeat real evidence.

    About phishing:
"Phishing is a type of online scam that targets consumers by sending them an e-mail that appears to be
from a well-known source - an internet service provider, a bank, or a mortgage company, for example."

You quoted the US government. Now you are saying .gov is phishing? Any evidence?

Again, CBP seized nearly 15,000 pounds of fentanyl, yet zero fentanyl and precursors from China.
If opioid is made from plants, it needs a lot of people cultivating a large area which could be easily
detected. On the other hand, synthetic opioid like fentanyl needs only good chemists. To the degree
that Mexican drug gang could make fentanyl from precursors, there is NO reason it could not make
    the precursors themselves.

Focusing on China single mindly in the absence of physical evidence does not make a lot of sense.

Once the Chinese executives are convicted, will you continue to deny the obvious?
