The Brooklyn man who left a woman to burn alive in his car after
he drunkenly crashed it on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway is a
coward who “violated humanity,” the dead woman’s mother said
through sobs as he was sent to prison Wednesday.

“She was not even human to him,” Rajinder Singh said as she
blasted driver Saeed Ahmad, 24, for killing her daughter,
Harleen Grewal, 25, in the October 2017 accident. “He sat behind
the wheel without [a] driver’s license, drunk, speeding, and
killing our daughter. Adding insult to her burning alive, [he]
turned his back, took a cab casually, with the [intention] that
she burns to ashes and no one will know who was there.”

Ahmad pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree manslaughter
last year, in exchange for a sentence of four to 12 years behind
bars.

He was caught on film calmly hailing a cab after slamming his
car into a barrier on the BQE. He left Grewal inside the vehicle
to die without calling 911.

“My heart is aching with pain due to me being responsible for
the loss of a very precious life,” Ahmad said as he was
sentenced in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
