A 19-year-old Brazilian traveler is facing the possibility of a death
sentence in Bali after more than 6.5 lbs of cocaine was found in her
    luggage.

Manuela Vitoria de Araujo Farias was visiting the island to see Buddhist temples in a bid to take a spiritual approach to her mother's illness
after she recently suffered a stroke.

Farias' legal representation claims that she was tricked into carrying the drugs by a gang who promised to pay for her surf lessons and suggested
that she could pray for her mother's recovery at the temples.

Despite these claims, the prosecution in the case has demanded that the 19-year-old receive the maximum sentence, and if found guilty, Farias is
likely to face the firing squad.

The young woman was apprehended when she disembarked from a flight from
Qatar at the island nation's international airport on January 27 after
    leaving Brazil.

Her case follows another comparable but more fortunate tale of an
    Australian traveler, 52-year-old Jeffrey Welton.

Welton, who was discovered with relatively small amounts of
methamphetamine and heroin in a condom at Bali's International Airport
after flying in from Vietnam, was detained in September.

He could have faced the same fate at the hands of the Indonesian
authorities but his lawyers were instead able to convince the judge that
the man, being an addict, was not smuggling for redistribution but rather
    for personal consumption.

Welton was consequently given a sentence of eight months in Bali's Anargya Sober House.

"Bali is notorious for its strict drug laws. Smart Traveller, an
Australian website, cautions its citizens - among whom Bali is a popular destination - that even the smallest amounts of banned substances can
    result in severe punishments.

The website also advises travelers to contact the Indonesian embassy
regarding any prescription medication they wish to carry into the country.

Furthermore, all marijuana and products made from its extracts are illegal
in the Asian state, according to the Daily Mail."

Any chance of them extending the courtesy of a firing squad to Bolsonaro, caught trying to smuggle more than TEN times that amount
into the EU using the official presidential plane?
