Dear Friends,
I visited the 'Taranga' website recently.(http://www.udayavani.com/taranga/intro.htm). I was very sad to
see that this popular Kannada weekly does not even have the "Least User Interface" in its website. Even after several months of time, it has
remained in its 'very poor', 'ugly'(i am very sorry to use this term)
state. The introductory message is 'several months' old. There are no articles in it. It is really "hard" to call it an Internet magazine. No
body is maintaining it properly.
At present, there is not even a single, proper Kannada magazine
published in the Internet. The Prajavani, Sanjevani, Udayavani are only
news papers. Though we have 'Vishwa Kannada'(http://www.indianlanguages.com/kannada/current/index.htm) and 'sRujana'(http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/3673/), they are not
regular issues.
Then i went to (http://www.mahesh.com/india/media/regional.html) to see what's happening in our neighbouring lanaguges. I found the following.
Telugu = 4 Magazines-Newspapers
Tamil = 13 Magazines-Newspapers(That's what i like in our 'kongati'
brothers)
Kannada = No magazine yet.(I don't want to mention 'Taranga' yet.)
Malayalam = 2 Magazines-Newspapers.
Most of these other language(Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam)magazines that i visited are maintained very well. They have very good graphics, other
than the regular news photographs. The Kannada Internet publications are
far far behind, compared to our neighbouring languages.
I am eagerly waiting to see our popular magazines 'Taranga', 'Sudha', 'Prajamatha'(?), 'Mayoora', 'Mallige', 'Roopa Thaara' e.t.c. on the
Internet.
At this time, i request all the kannadigas to atleast publish some
kannada articles/news/stories e.t.c in their homepages, where ever it
is possible.
Regards
Pattabhirama.
