JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - An Onslow County jury has found a
man accused of chopping up a murder victim and putting his body
in cement-filled tubs guilty of second degree murder.

Carleton Davis chose not to testify in his murder trial.

Davis was on trial for killing Sheldon Prawl back in 2013.

In addition to second degree murder, Davis was also found guilty
of concealment of a death. Prosecutors wanted jurors to find
Davis guilty of first degree murder.

They returned their verdict shortly after 1:00 p.m. after
deliberating nearly five hours over two days.

Judge Imelda Pate sentenced Davis to serve between 38 and 47
years in state prison on the two convictions.

The victim was last seen on Halloween 2013 leaving the
Jacksonville home of his girlfriend, who is Davis' sister.

Prawl's body was found dismembered in two tubs filled with
cement in a Detroit, Michigan garage in 2014.

He was charged with the murder the following year.
