Plato loved the word HYPOSTASIS. He used it quite a bit in his Plato’s Republic. In this work Plato speaks of a group of prisoners who spend
their lives in a cave watching the outside world only from the shadows
it reflects inside the cave. In the words of Plato he calls the outside
world upostasis or the reality. Such a notion relates to Italian /
French religious heritage and cultural identity. As it does to Islam.
Hypostasis (Greek: ὑπόστασις) is the underlying state or underlying substance and is the fundamental reality that supports all else. In Neoplatonism the hypostasis of the soul, the intellect (nous) and "the
one" was addressed by Plotinus.
