logicians & novelists would assist trustworthy police in a detailed interrogation of the suspects. Reasonable people oppose the death penalty in principle for various solid reasons, including first of all the loss of possible further information from the
plotters. Should some future change in the composition of the Government threaten to release the condemned, however, then under such circumstances we might wish expeditiously to execute them out of hand.

The legally correct verb above = "murdered" rather than merely "killed", as if the Palestinian children were merely so many chickens.
