SOmeone has mentioned that the Thai "Porn" is derived from Sanskrit.. well the enarest Sanskrit word that would make sense is Punya.. which means a good deed. The antonym is Paap which means an act of sin.

This is interesting, I am a Thai woman and being lectured about the
Thai language by a bunch of "Farangs" ! Okay, here goes, let me try
to brush up on my Thai language.

Many Thai words have their origin in Sanskrit language. For example,
the word "Thip" means extra ordinary good and can only be found
from the heavenly realm. Therefore, the name "Pornthip" the closest
English translation would be "Omniscient", or literally means
    "Heavenly Vision".

Another example of a common Thai name which contain the word
"porn" is "Jiraporn". The word "Jira", if I remembered
correctly also has it origin from Sanskrit language, which means,
beautiful and happy. Hence, the word "Jiraporn" means "Heavenly
    beautiful and happy".

Generally speaking, the name that contained the word "porn" is
usually used in conjunction with another word (usually use with another noun).

However, when the word "porn" is used with a verb, it usually means "blessing": for example, the word "hai porn", is explicitly
means "give blessing" or "Rub Porn" means "receive
    blessing".

I think in most cases it means "Gift from heaven" for example
    "Pornthip"

Not necessary a gift from heaven. For example, parents can give
    their
    children a blessing.

The nearest Sanskrit word that would make sense is Punya which means "a good deed" often in relation to religious customs (for instance giving alms or going on a pilgrimage). While Punya is sometimes a part of names, the use is not common.
