Sixty years ago today, on 25 July 1960, Brother Roger, of the
Community of the Resurrection, spoke on "Pilgrims of the Absolute" at
the first conference of the Anglican Students Federation of South
Africa (ASF), held at Modderpoort in the Free State. It made such an
impression that he was asked to speak the following year on "More
Pilgrims of the Absolute". Here is a combined version of both papers

For me, and for most of the others present, it was our first
introduction to Beat Generation literature.
