Will not make a lot of people happy, but too difficult to prevent Zelensky's Ukraine to join NATO, but will not be able to get Russia to give up claim to Donbas and Crimea.
So, just allow Ukraine west of Dnieper River to join NATO, and Russia will retreat to Donetsk and Luhansk while leaving region in between as a DMZ and therefore a no-fly zone.

i.e. Russia gets Crimea and the Donbas while Ukraine gets to join NATO like Zelensky is wanting.

Now, since Zelensky is unwilling to give up claim to Crimea and Donbas, no compromise is possible and the war will go on indefinitely with no civilian wishing to reside between Russia and the Donbas. Their fate as refugees is because of Zelensky's and
USA's stubbornness to make the needed agreement which is easily well known, and I have stated it.
