The new tech sector had a libertarian ethos about it .. They were the
new technologies of freedom .. They'd usher in a new age of people power
.. Here we sit a quarter-century later with documented evidence that the opposite happened. The private sector collects the data that the
government buys and uses as a tool of control ..
The whole thing has become an oppressive blob .. Government has now become
a major customer, if not the main customer, of the services provided by
the large social media and tech companies .. Amazon, Microsoft and Google
.. These companies provide the regular consumer services but a main and
even decisive customer is government itself ..
It's one of the best-kept secrets in American public life, hardly talked
about at all by mainstream media. Most people still think of tech companies
as free-enterprise rebels. It's not true ..
The same situation of course exists for pharmaceutical companies ..
.. The agricultural sector, which is dominated by cartels that have driven
out family farms. It's a government plan and massive subsidies that
determine what is produced and in what quantity ..
.. Government itself becomes a main and even dominant customer .. No longer primarily interested in serving the general public, enterprise turns its attention to serving its powerful masters in the halls of the state,
gradually weaving close relationships and forming a ruling class that
becomes a conspiracy against the public ..
That name is corporatism .. Not capitalism and not socialism but a system
of private property ownership with cartelized industry that primarily
serves the state .. The old binaries of the public and private sector .. no longer make much sense .. The corporatist machine now manages the main
products and services .. including the entire way we get information, how
we work, how we bank, how we contact friends and how we buy .. In short,
this corporatism .. is the core source of all the current despotism ..
I truly wish these companies were genuinely private, but they're not.
They're de facto state actors. More precisely, they all work hand-in-glove
and which is the hand and which is the glove is no longer clear ..
...
Think the cited is a useful text as it explains some things to English- speaking public in a way and manner they would understand easier, while
for those who are to enough extent familiar with the Leninism there's
little new, since the present day reality somewhat resembles the Lenin's visions <
https://is.gd/tPcRZR> developed more than a century ago.
Also, in the late USSR there was a trend considering oligopolization of "capitalism" as a movement towards "socialism", since oligopolies
naturally tend to merge with the government apparatus (so that "which is
the hand and which is the glove is no longer clear"), so the copulation
begins to resemble socialist arrangement, - and notice that nowadays the enormous companies like Google or Microsoft etc ("serving the government
as the main contractor") are closely linked with the Leftist trend.
