    Matthew 2
16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was
furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had
    learned from the Magi.
17 Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:
18 “A voice is heard in Ramah,
    weeping and great mourning,
    Rachel weeping for her children
    and refusing to be comforted,
    because they are no more.”

Some preach that the star of Bethlehem was an angel of Satan
because of this deadly result on the Bethlehem children.

How wrong they are, for they do not understand the Providence
and plan of God to test the men and mankind.

It is essential for each one of us to manifest his or her true
nature and prove worthy or unworthy of the next world.
King Herod was from the line whose ancestors built the Jerusalem
Temple of worship. It seemed the right thing for the Magi to bring
the good news of the star of the new king to the Jerusalem court.

Herod himself pretended to be worshipping baby Jesus, too.
Would he go to Heaven himself?

Alas, when the Magi found Jesus, worshipped the newborn king
and gave him precious gifts: gold, myrrh and thyme - they were
warned in sleep not to return to Herod with the good news.

After realising that the Magi will not return, Herod revealed his true
intent and his true nature. It was not the worship of baby Christ that
made him slay all Bethlehem boys up to two years old - that is,
baby infants - it was the greed for sheer power and what it brings:
    riches and false honour.

in the name of the LORD Merciful, Almighty
    Amen
