• Sledge microtome blade angle adjustment

    How is it that the blade holders for sledge microtomes are adjusted for knife clearance angle and then locked into place? Based off of other websites and pictures, it seems that the central thumb screw on top of the picture shown in the Knife Holder pfm
    Slide 2003/4003 E is used to clamp the underlying cylinder in place. I am just not sure as to how that screw holds the underlying cylinder in place.

    I suspect that the knob turns a screw which tightens a clamp on the underside of the cylinder. As I don't have access to one, I can't be sure about that.
