Where does one go these days for textual information rather than these
    snazzy video loaded web sites?

These are, for the most part, NASA press releases and news stories, so I
guess they're going for more video and pictures these days.

It would be really nice though if they still provided a text only feed
of these things somewhere. But I'm not aware of such a thing. Even
newspapers today have image and video laden websites. Trying to
    compete, I guess.

True, BUT, NASA I believe is required under ADA laws to provide information
in a format consumable by visually impaired users.
Of course, that doesn't mean it necessarily has to be easy or clear how to
    do that.

My guess is that there is some sort of link that would get that.
I'll be honest, I don't have time to look, but if someone finds it and I can figure out how to add it as an automatic feed, I'd be more than willing to
    do so.

I tried to Google such a thing and couldn't (easily) find it, so I gave
up in disgust. I did shoot an email off to the NASA public affairs
office, so we'll see if they have any suggestions. When I get a reply,
    I'll post the info here.
