That's why I think you, Hanson, is just an "engineer." You're devoid of
an individual's power of independent thinking. Understanding works of others is plagiarizing to you because an "engineer" never understands anything beyond its application potentials.
Actually I'm an engineer, too.
(physics is kind of a hobby for me).
This has some advantages, because engineers are not part of the
scientific community and have absolutely no idea about what the people involved in science do, when they are not doing science (e.g. when they
go to a party or have a chat with their neighbors).
This is why engineers can ONLY communicate about scientific topics with physicists and not about social life - for instance-, because they have absolutely no idea about 'scientific lifestyle'.
This is actually a good thing, because it restricts communication to the relevant (scientific) topics, while leaving social issues like e.g.
hirarchy in the acedemic community entirely ignored.
Science itselve, on the other hand, is in most cases no real problem for
an engineer, because they have been trained in these topics, too.
So: engineers are better physicist then physicists themselves,
they are able to ignore, what should be ignored, because they don't know that in the first place.
TH
belong. An "engineer" is a cook stepping into a room full of nutrition scientists.
