Imagine two trampolines that are large compared with a human. Let one be twice as stiff as the other in that the same force applied to the center of each gives rise to 2 displacements, one half the other. Now sandwich a human between both trampolines
with the perimeters of the trampolines identified. Imagine this all done in the weightlessness of a circular Earth orbit. The human now pushes against the two trampolines one hand on each trampoline till the trampolines are separated as much as a person
can spread their hands apart. Call this distance L.

What is the ratio of the energy stored in each trampoline, Energy_stiff/Energy_less stiff? Assume the energy stored in each trampoline is proportional to the displacement squared of each trampoline from equilibrium.

    Is it 1/2?

    Thanks.
