The Wikipedia article on homopolar generator which is the ancient Faraday design links to an article on homopolar motors which are also ancient. In
the see also section of the article on homopolar motors is a link to a Wikipedia article on pure homopolar motors.
A pure homopolar motor generator is a brushless, commutatorless DC machine translating electromotive Force into rotational power in a reversible way
so that it can be used as a generator.

This example of the prior art is given in the quotes in the article but
there's no link.

That is US patent 5,977,684 using the commas that are more common.
And yes. I have downloaded the PDF from the USPTO site.
I will need a couple slabs of cast iron rod and a lathe to cut them with
but I can build a pure DC electric bicycle motor with this patent and ask
for a licensing if necessary.
The advantage of a pure DC motor in an electric bicycle design is that for human electric hybrids in a manner similar to electric gasoline hybrids on
the roads the DC electric Motor increases the acceleration capacity of the vehicle without adding much weight.
An advantage of a pure DC motor of this design is that by controlling the
size of the magnet wire in the core which does not rotate, the resistance
of the motor can be matched to the very very low example 0.001 ohm
resistance of an ultra capacitor Bank in a manner allowing efficient
transfer without dc/dc conversion. Also the winding size can be configured
to provide a steady voltage when descending hills which is within the rated range of the ultra capacitor so that it can be fully charged making best
use of its distinctive ability to provide millions of full charge discharge cycles.
I must say I'm delighted to learn about this piece of experimental physics hardware that was patented years ago. Standing on the shoulders of the
Giants we see farther than we could.
