US Navy FIRES USS Connecticut Captain, XO and Chief of the Boat
after $3.1bn nuclear-powered attack submarine collided with
'uncharted seamount' in South China Sea

The US Navy has fired the Commanding Officer (CO), Executive
Officer (XO) and Chief of the Boat (COB) for 'loss of confidence'
    after submarine crash

    . . . .

Ummmmmm .... does this smell fishy ???

I don't think there ARE any "uncharted seamounts" anymore,
and sure as hell not in busy place like S.China Sea. They'd
have the sea bottom charted to the meter or better.

And if it WERE "uncharted" then this isn't the officers
fault - just Bad Luck. There'd also be a LONG investigation,
but this wreck only happened a couple of weeks ago.

I have a different suggestion - that they were playing tag
with a Chinese sub, part of the usual "game", and RAMMED the
thing. This is some very fast BUTT-COVERING.

Parking lot fender bender. Normally nothing to see here. Letter
    of reprimand.

Except one of Joe's commie buddies got their nice shiny new sub
    dented.

Surprised the Americans are not hanging from the periscope.
