I was told yesterday that my vision had deteriorated badly in the past two years since my second cataract operation. I was told I would not pass my driver's license renewal eye exam required in AZ. I was told if I had a posterior lens capsule opacification (PCO) procedure in both eyes I would
do so. I made appointments for both eyes.

Anyone else reading here ever get this rather scary diagnosis? If so, how
did work out? I live in the country and would have an extremely difficult time if I couldn't drive. Cab to town $25+ each way which I can't afford.

Last I heard, you get zapped with a YAG laser and the procedure takes
minutes with no downside. Common. I haven't needed it (yet), but my
MIL had it and was surprised at how easy the process was.

Yes, but did it help her vision measurement numbers?

Yes, it is an easy procedure, they should go back to your measurements
right after the cataract operation. I needed it in one eye, not the
    other.

I can't remember when she actually had it. She had wet AMD such that eventually she wrote her grocery lists on greenbar fanfold paper 3 items
per sheet and was just able to guess the E on the top line of the chart.

Back when this was an active newsgroups there was frequent mention of
this problem as a result of cataract surgery. The docs regarded it as a trivial problem with a trivial 100% effective solution.

Hmph. I used to have snow tires. Never again. They melted in the
spring. I won't even start going on about my wood stove.
