• Urolift

    FYI:

I underwent the Urolift process a couple of weeks ago
and the results are highly satisfactory. My urinary
stream is greatly improved and I awaken two to three
times at night instead of 10 times.

The procedure took about 20 minutes, and there was
pain for 11 hours after that. I wore a catheter
    for the first day.

I was told the Urolift procedure does not work
for very large prostates. My prostate was only
52 grams, but it effectively blocked the entire
    urethra.

I have not heard of Urulift before. Interesting. Interesting for some,
that is. My prostate is the size of an orange, so it would not be
    suitable for me.

This group is pretty well dead - maybe someone else will respond.

My prostate was 113 and the surgeon I spoke with said mine was too large for the Urolift. This was maybe four or five years ago.
I've not done anything and I get up an average of twice a night since I started eating walnuts in the evening.

Twice a night is not bad. But needing to eat before retiring is not a
good sign. It's an adaptation. I did that for years, little by little
adding tricks to get by to avoid surgery.

Back when I had my problems (10 years ago or so) everyone was talking
about greenlight laser. That's what I wanted because of all the real
positive reports. But as time went on, some had to be redone, and it
became apparent that greenlight removed less prostate, which reduced
recovery time, but made it necessary to have it redone sooner. Less
    pain, less gain.

Greenlight was not recommended for big prostates like mine (150g). It
would not have removed enough prostate with the power and the time
available. The duration was critical to avoid shock from the
    irrigation fluid used.

Finally my situation became too difficult to manage and I had a TURP.
It went well. He removed around 90g. The PSA dropped from 26 to 2 1/2.
How did that happen!? Anyway, the PSA is a bit over 4 now and my flow
is good. I'm on Finasteride but no flow meds.
