I had some discomfort in my pelvic are for about four days. I wondered
if it was a bladder infection or prostatitis. I then passed a spurt of
blood at the start of urinating last thing at night. I needed to get up
twice during the night and my output then was rather dark with a red
tinge to it. I then used a jug to urinate in to get a better view of
what was happening. In the morning my urine appeared clear but the
discomfort continued. That night I passed quite a big clot and some more blood. I put some urine in a container along with the clot. I collected another seemingly clear sample in the morning and took both with me when seeing my doctor this morning.
He said that the clear looking sample had blood traces in it. He sent
both to the lab to have them checked for any infection. He suggested the blood was caused by a burst blood vessel in the prostate and prescribed
a short course of an antibiotic.
I'm not sure how one would diagnose a burst blood vessel in the prostate. Derek

No, I have never self cathed. It happened another time during hot weather
and I thought it was caused by being dehydrated.
