I have been diligently reading the postings and have learned an awful
lot. I have symptoms and would like to know if someone might suggest
what I should do now.

My case is as follows:

. Contracted acute bacterial prostatitis 2 yrs ago after sexual
encounter with fiance
. Treated with Bactrim for 14 days; and symptoms(urgency, lower urinary
tract prickling; low/slow urine flow; prostate inflammation; fever) go
away but return after ABX ends
. Treated with more Bactrim for 10 days and most troubling symptoms go
away (urgency gone; inflammation gone; fever gone;)but weak unrine flow
still there; urinary tract prickling still there; dull recurring pain/weakness feeling on lower right side between groin and hip;
crawling sensations under scrotum
. Treated with Cipro seems that symptoms go away except for lower
urinary tract prickling sensations and crawling sensations under scrotum Treated with Levaquin seems that symptoms go away except for lower
urinary tract prickling and weak stream and crawling sensations under
scrotum
. Treated with trimethoprim/sulfa at low dose for 3 months seems there
is no change in prickling or weak stream or crawling sensations
. Treated with Biaxcin and seems that prickling diminishes
significantly; crawling sensations are less frequent maybe once a day
. Treated with diflucan for 7 days and seems that one day symptoms of
fatigue and crawling sensations really go away
. Treated with Cipro again and seems that only symptom is weak stream
and occasionally crawling sensation under scrotum
. For the past 6 months my virility has really waned and I have chronic fatigue and chronic sinusitis; I spend a lot of time lying down as I am always tired and congested without end. Had some throat pain for a
month or so and then it went away. Sometimes I have dull pain on my
lower right side between hip and groin area. This pain is a lot less
frequent than it used to be and does not hurt, just noticeable.
. I have been scoped and the result was negative but did show some
tissue build-up on my right side. Urinalysis has always been negative
except on one occasion where blood in urine was there on sample taken
just before scope procedure. Uro said that was nothing to be concerned
about. PSA test are negative. Semen culture was negative. All VD test
are negative.

.Currently symptoms are very occasional prickling along lower urinary
tract; weak stream - about half of normal flow; chronic fatigue;
chronic sinusitis; occasional slight recurring pain on my lower right
side between hip and groin area; low virility; sometimes my loin area
feels like nothing is there; but lately I am having spontaneous
erections at night and early morning which had not been occurring for
the last 6 months.

. Uro has wanted me to try Flowmax or Cardura. I have not taken either
yet after reading about retro-ejaculation which didn't sound to
pleasant.

I know that my case is not anywhere near the level of problems
experienced by so many of you and you have my sympathy and encouragement
to hang in there.

Is there anything that anyone would suggest that I do at this point
given my history and current condition?

Should I try more ABX? I have seen the combo of Bactrim and Doxycyclin suggested. Should I try this?
