My opinion with regard to this article :Nursing homes and other nursing facilities are chronically understaffed most probably as a result of inadequate funding from both the Federal and State governments. Further, if a nurse reports abuse and/or neglect
of patients, he or she will, probably, face black listing by the health care industry despite laws which forbid the same. This increases, of course, the severity and number of cases of abuse and neglect of patients. It, also, drives the most competent
and ethical nurses from bedside nursing and out of nursing altogether. Partial solutions to this horrible problem include increasing the governmental funding of nursing facilities so that they will be adequately staffed by competent health care providers
and taking adequate steps to insure that health care providers who report abuse are not black listed by health care providers for reporting abuse.
