• Denture adhesive

From KenK@21:1/5 to All on Mon Dec 10 16:45:05 2018
I need a good adhesive for my full lower denture. I often leave out the dentures because of this problem. The best I've found so far is Polygrip
Super. I apply it to the entire inner surface of the denture, not just a
few spots as they recommend. I put the denture in around 10 AM and remove
them after supper. About half the time the denture comes loose during
supper. Very annoying. I've tried Fixodent powder or cream but they are
even worse. The Fixodent powder works fine on my full upper denture.

Any suggestions for a better adhesive or a better way to use it? I hate to
keep paying for new brands that don't work for me.

    Suggestions?

    TIA

Make sure you are not using a zinc-free formula. Zinc-free pastes were formulated because there were a few unfortunate cases in which patients apparently used massive quantities of adhesive with zinc and suffered
    nerve damage.
That is the reason to not go too crazy with the zinc-containing
formulas. That said, especially with lower dentures, having to re-apply adhesive once or more daily isn't unusual. If these dentures are old
you should have the fit checked by your dentist-you may need a re-line.
