Wonderful - I'll have the pdf file printed, place the 50 to 100 kg tome
next to my bed, read 100 pages every night, and report back in autumn.

These large PDF's are not meant for printing just for reading on the
screen :)
I have not printed anything on my printer for years now.
I like to browse/read things in PDF more than HTML myself. Only problem
is that search in PDF is very slow and could not so far find a solution
to this problem.
I have a PDF generated with 145,000 pages and it takes 5 minutes to search
for a word in it each time. So not good for searching.
Other than this, I like reading PDF's more than web pages, specially for
math content.
