• Can't login to sagemath any more using my google account

    From Nasser M. Abbasi@21:1/5 to All on Tue Dec 29 07:09:10 2020
I found a problem using sagemath 9.2 and wanted to report it to the forum

    https://ask.sagemath.org/questions/

But I am not able to login using my google account. Any one who are
on sagemath forum knows what is going on? When I click on login using google
    on this page

    https://ask.sagemath.org/account/signin/?next=/

    I get

    Authorization Error
    Error 400: redirect_uri_mismatch
The redirect URI in the request, https://ask.sagemath.org/account/signin/complete-oauth2/,
does not match the ones authorized for the OAuth client. To
    update the authorized redirect URIs, visit: https://console.developers.google.com/apis/credentials/oauthclient/${your_client_id}?project=${your_project_number}
    Learn more

Has this been disabled? How else to login to that forum? I have no other id. When I try
to make new account using openID, it gives me an error that this account allready exist.

Any suggestion how to access this forum to report problems? I found
some problems in integration in 9.2 with other CAS systems.

    thanks

    Thanks Matrin;

It looks like this problem has been known before:

    https://ask.sagemath.org/question/53871/google-sign-in-broken/

The question was asked 20 years ago, with comment 5 years ago saying
"Thanks for the report! We'll try to address that soon."

It must have been fixed since then and came back again now.

I do not understand why sagemath makes it so hard to login to their
forum. I always hard time before, even when google login was working.

What with all these mangled setup with openID, google login,
Askbot, AOL, yahoo, etc... just to login?

What is wrong with a simple: create an account using email/password
and login directly? Just like with almost any other site ones visits.
    (the bank, discover card, etc...)

Oh well. Someone at sagemath thought this was smart way to set up a forum, where now one can't login to report a problem.

After looking at source code of the web page itself, the date looks like
oct 12, 2020. And not 20 years ago. It was hard to read on the main page
    it looked like 2000 there.

And the reply was oct 15, 2020.

So this must be the same issue I see, since this is 2 months ago and
I have not logged in for a while myself.

But this means also it has not been fixed so far.

Thanks Martin. I ended up making a ticket at github for this.
(I still can't login to sagemath forum. And I do not think this will be fixed anytime soon).

    https://trac.sagemath.org/ticket/31222

I have stopped the CAS integration tests which I started after 2 weeks now.

This is because so many integrals now fail in sagemath when using
giac, but they work in giac itself. There seem to be a problem with sagemath<-->giac interface and the final result would look bad for giac
    which is not fair.

Will wait until next version of sagemath or until this is fixed.

It would be best ofcourse to write scripts to test fricas/giac and maxima directly to test Rubi's integrals against them instead of using sagemath
    to do that.

But this means I would have to learn each CAS specific syntax and how
to use them and write scripts, which is a little complicated due to
having to use timeout which is needed. So it is much simpler to use
one sagemath script for all three. (which I wrote using Python),
also the grading function is written in Python (for sagemath).

AFAIK, you might be mistaking giac's output with %iint terms as successes.
In fact they are failures, as %iint terms show unresolved integrals.

We have little control over ask.sagemath.org - the people who are running it, most recently in Ohio State University, were told to move the server somewhere, and apparently this didn't work as yet.
They made a point of not using commercial hosting providers, IIRC, and this has led to this kind of a mess, I think.

A much more reliable forum is https://groups.google.com/g/sage-support
for general Sagemath support, and https://groups.google.com/g/sage-devel
    for more technical questions.

    There is also https://wiki.sagemath.org/#Mailing_Lists_.2F_Chat_Rooms
with more details. In particular Zulip instance is fairly active. https://sagemath.zulipchat.com/

I've answered on the ticket. It looks that your Sagemath install is a bit broken.
Most probably it's provided by your Linux distribution (you didn't mention which one)
and again, it's for the people who create packages for it to fix.

Any suggestion how to access this forum to report problems? I found
some problems in integration in 9.2 with other CAS systems.

    thanks
